Fresno Woman Accused Of Counterfeit Check In Coarsegold

MADERA COUNTY – A 53-year old woman is incarcerated today, accused of trying to pass a counterfeit check in a Coarsegold establishment at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.

According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Lanan Kaye Gallo-Harper, also known as Lanan Spencer, gave the check to a cashier who accepted it and suspected the check was a fake.

The cashier immediately notified security, say authorities, who then called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies who arrived on scene confirmed the check was counterfiet and later, seized more phony checks found stashed inside the suspect’s purse.

Deputies arrested Gallo-Harper without incident and booked her into Madera County Department of Corrections. She remains jailed as of noon on Thursday, Sept. 11, with bail set at $5,000.
