Minarets & Western Railroad, 1923: Free Talk At Fresno Flats

OAKHURST — Fresno Flats Historic Park invites the community to attend the March edition of their First Friday Lecture Series. On Friday, Mar. 1, historian David Rodriguez will share a brief history of the Minarets and Western Railroad and its ties between Pinedale and the Oakhurst area.

Highlights include a short video on the history of the Minarets and Western Railroad in 1933, a quick overview of the building of the railroad from Pinedale to Central Camp, the Japanese Assembly center located at the old mill in Pinedale, and the Western Signal Aviation Unit Training Center.

Doors open to the Cunningham Schoolhouse at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited, so organizers ask that you arrive early if you don’t want to stand in the back. While the event is free, donations are gladly accepted to support Fresno Flats and its historical research.

Fresno Flats Historical Park and Museum is located at 49777 School Road, Oakhurst, CA 93644
