Free Workshop On Frustration For Family Caregivers

Submitted by Valley Caregivers

OAKHURST — Are you a caregiver of a loved one? Do you need to control your frustration? Please join Valley Caregiver Resource Center for a free workshop on Tuesday, Mar. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church. Everyone is welcome, say organizers, and pre-registration is required.

Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers face special challenges. If you are caregiving for a loved one with this disease and need information, are looking for resources or just have some questions, there is help for you right here in the foothill area.

The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets the second and fourth Tuesday each month from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church. Contact Carol at (559) 683-4045 for more information on the workshop and/or Support Group.

We also have a Caregiver’s Respite Group that meets every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Sierra Senior Center. Our two volunteers are there to give the caregiver a much needed break while your loved one enjoys a structured day of activities and socialization. Please contact Jennie at (559) 658-8227 or Barbara at (559) 683-6474 for more information.

Our Respite Group will be available the day of the workshop should you need to drop off your loved one so you can attend the workshop. Please call in advance to hold a spot for that Tuesday.
