Free Workshop On Firescaping Your Property

Written by Bob Labozetta —

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Detwiler Fire ravaged nearly 82,000 acres and burned 63 homes. Where should we go now, what should we have done to make our homes safe, and what should we be doing to help our land recover?

Michael S. Beaudoin of the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council will present a free workshop covering some of the history, dynamics and results of wildland fire on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Greeley Hill Community Hall, 10332 Fisk Road in Greeley Hill.

The presentation is sponsored by the Mariposa Master Gardeners. Please telephone 209-966-2417 or go to the website, cemariposa.ucanr.edu to register.

This is the same presentation Beaudoin shared in Mariposa in June.

“Firescaping and What to Change in a Changing Forest” covers living well and safely in a fire-prone landscape and will include fire-recovery and rehab options.

There will be time for questions from the floor, plus numerous brochures and a list of websites for advice.
