Free Training For Workers Impacted By Drought

REEDLEY – Reedley College is offering a free class in Irrigation Technical Training that is open to the public. The class is offered to residents in the Fresno, Tulare, Kings or Madera Counties and will provide training to workers, employers and students that are currently unemployed or underemployed as a result of the drought.

With the water technology industry needing skilled and knowledgeable people, the Irrigation Specialist class at Reedley College will increase knowledge of irrigation and water management.

The course is 15 weeks of focused training while serving individuals seeking employment in the agriculture industry with irrigation manufacturers, dealers, and designers.

Students who successfully complete the class will be prepared for the California Agriculture Irrigation Specialist Industry certification through the Irrigation Association. Trainees will gain skills in pump and system efficiency as well as enhanced plant and soil science skills.

A mandatory informational session will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at Reedley College in the LSH Building Room 1. Attendance is required to register for the class.

Class will begin on Aug. 31 and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-8 p.m. and two Saturdays a month.
