Free Training For Volunteers To Help Animals In Disasters

MARIPOSA – If you are interested in helping animals when disaster strikes your area, this is your chance to make a difference.

The Central California Animal Disaster Team (CCADT) is hosting a volunteer orientation workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mariposa Government Center.

The CCADT is recruiting volunteers who live in Mariposa County and Eastern Madera County to help when disaster strikes.

During the presentation, the following topics will be covered:

  • Mission and Purpose of the CCADT
  • Volunteer Positions
  • Training Requirements
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Community Outreach

Since 2011, the CCADT has helped families with their animals in times of emergency. They have responded to wildland fires, home fires and floods in seven counties. When there is a disaster in our region, the CCADT is here to help “save the WHOLE family.”

If you are interested, please attend this free workshop to learn how the CCADT helps bring animals from crisis to safety.

Registration is required by Monday, Nov. 12, and is very simple. Just email Volunteer Coordinator Annette Omachi at annetteomachi@ccadt.org with your name, number attending, and a phone number where you may be contacted if necessary.

The Mariposa Government Center is located at 5100 Bullion Street.
