Free Training For Community Emergency Response Team Members

NORTH FORK – The community is invited to participate in a free training program to become part of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations.Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community.

The California Tribal Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program under Inter-Tribal Council of California, Inc., provides this training for free to California Tribes. Everyone is invited to participate.

North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians logoThe CERT training will be delivered in eight sessions over the course of three days, Wednesday through Friday, May 15 – 17, at the North Fork Rancheria Community Center. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During each session participants are required to bring all provided CERT safety equipment (gloves, goggles, mask, helmet, CERT vest and pack) to the training.

Participants will receive a CERT Emergency Response Kit. These kits and CERT participants manual will be provided to everyone who successfully competes the required 20 hour training.
