Free Concerts Feature Song Heard ‘Round The World

OAKHURST — For the eighth consecutive year, a group of singers from local area church choirs including choristers from New Community United Methodist Church and Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, as well as a mini-orchestra made up of talented local instrumentalists, will come together for a beautiful Christmas program. The public is cordially invited to attend, and the program is free.

Two performances take place on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Sierra Vista Presbytarian Church. The first performance is at 4 p.m., and the second is at 6:30 p.m.

Monika Moulin says this year’s program will feature a moving and joyful performance of “The Song Heard ‘Round the World” by composer Joseph Martin.

The work’s publishers describe it this way:

The Song Heard ‘Round the World is a journey of international carols and folk songs that incorporate narration and scripture to share the Christmas story. With sections for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, the anticipation, incarnation and proclamation of Christ’s birth is presented. Each movement is from a different nation, filling the work with a tapestry of musical diversity. The overall theme of unity and peace on earth is timely, giving many options for creative presentations. Colorful orchestrations by Brant Adams capture the diversity that is so much a part of this meaningful work.

As ever, admission is free, and an offering will be taken to help cover expenses.

Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church is located at 39696 CA-41, Oakhurst, CA 93644
