Forest Service Firefighters Injured In Rollover Accident Near Clovis

CLOVIS – Five firefighters were injured this morning when a US Forest Service fire engine rolled over on Highway 168 between Academy and Shepherd Avenues near Clovis, according to CHP.

Just after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, a small SUV was attempting what was described as an unsafe pass, and collided with the firetruck, which was carrying five firefighters.

Both vehicles overturned, and one of the firefighters reportedly sustained major injuries, while another’s injuries were considered moderate. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center. The other three were taken to St. Agnes, with minor injuries.

It is not known where the firefighters were from, or the condition of the SUV driver.

Highway 168 was closed until almost noon as the injured were evaluated and transported, and officers conducted their investigation.
