Forest Seeks Public Input On OHV Application

CLOVIS – The Sierra National Forest is requesting public input on the Forest’s 2016 State Off-Highway Motor Vehicle (OHMVR) grant application from Mar. 3 through Apr. 6, 2015.

The Sierra National Forest will also host an open house on Thursday, Mar. 5, at the Sierra National Forest Headquarters at 1600 Tollhouse Road in Clovis, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to for the public to review the preliminary application and provide any comments.

This year the State has funds available for education, operation and maintenance, law enforcement and restoration projects, and the Sierra National Forest will submit an OHMVR grant application for this funding.

As part of the grant application, the State requires the grant be available for public review and input for 30 days. Beginning Mar. 3 the Sierra National Forest’s application, as well as all grant applications will be available for review at: http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov. The comment period ends on Apr. 6.

Each year the State of California makes funding available through the OHV Grants Program. The grants program provides financial assistance to eligible agencies and organizations (federal, city, county, nonprofit, etc.) that develop, maintain, operate, expand, support, or contribute to well-managed, high-quality, OHV recreation areas, roads and trails.
