OAKHURST – Hinds Hospice Center for Grief and Healing has announced the Foothill Region Grief Support Group, starting in September, for those grieving the death of a loved one.
Twelve sessions of the grief support group will start on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and run on Tuesdays through Jan. 6, 2015, except for holidays.
The program is from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and takes place at the Oakhurst VA – Veterans CBOC, located at 40597 West Lake Drive in Oakhurst. Please note that this is not a VA sponsored group; rather, the fee for the program is an out-of-pocket expense.
Advance registration is required. The cost for the entire 12 week session is a one-time fee of $25 per person, and scholarships are available.
“It can be very helpful and supportive to meet with others who also have experienced the loss of a loved one,” say organizers. “Support groups provide an opportunity to share stories, to simply listen, to encourage others to be encouraged, and to have one’s feelings supported by the facilitator and group members.”
The group will be facilitated by Caroline, who holds a Masters of Social Work and is affiliated with Hinds Hospice.
