Fireside Chat: Mariposa’s Marvels Of 20th Century Engineering

MARIPOSA — Here’s information about a special presentation of interest to history buffs and those who admire masterful 20th century engineering, including bridges and railroads: the Mariposa Museum and History Center is hosting another Fireside Chat.

Glenn Sutherland’s presentation, “Engineering Marvels of the Early 1900s in Mariposa County and Beyond” includes historic photographs, amazing facts, and insider stories about several of the incredible feats of engineering and construction around Mariposa about a hundred years ago.

Glenn was born and raised in Iowa, and has lived in California since 1973. He and his wife, Kathy, have lived in Midpines since 1981. Glenn has been a fan and student of railroads and railroad history since he was a young child, and recently contributed to the construction of the Yosemite Valley Railroad exhibit at the Mariposa Museum.

The presentation takes place on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is free. The Mariposa Museum is located at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa.
