Firefighters Respond To One-Acre Fire Near Jerseydale

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Crews are on scene of an escaped debris fire burning in the Sweetwater area near Jerseydale in Mariposa County.

At about 1:30 p.m., reports came in of an escaped burn, and the first engine at scene reported the fire at approximately one acre.

Firefighters from the Sierra National Forest responded, and requested additional resources. The Emergency Command Center in Mariposa dispatched three Cal Fire engines and two Mariposa County engines, along with one hand crew from Mt. Bullion.

An additional request was made for two more Cal Fire engines, which are en route.

UPDATE —  As of 2:15 p.m., the fire is reported at 2 acres and a moderate rate of spread. The Incident Commander has requested a water tender and investigation.
