Folks on their way through the construction zone between North Fork and O’Neals had a little more to deal with on Thursday and Friday than just the heavy equipment and delays.
On June 7th at 1:40 pm, a fire that subsequently grew to 23 acres, was reported just up the hill from the road work area.
The fire, dubbed the Fine Fire, has been 100% contained, and no structures were threatened. Called to the scene were 4 engines, 2 fire crews, a dozer and a water tender. There have been no road closures, but CalFire is urging caution when traveling in the area.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
