Fire Near Minarets Work Center

NORTH FORK – Firefighters on the Sierra National Forest got an early start to their season on Tuesday when a hazard reduction burn pile escaped up at Arnold Meadow just west of Minarets Work Center on the Bass Lake Ranger District.

The fire burned 2.6 acres before being brought under control by Battalion 52, North Fork Engine 51, Batterson E13, and a squad from the Crane Valley Hotshots.

Captain 51 Noah Ching is the Incident Commander and Eric Swartz is the IC trainee. Battalion Chief Charlotte Jordan is also on scene and District Battalion Chief Burt Stalter is working on incident maps.

Engine 13 will remain overnight to continue mop up activities and will be replaced by E51 and Water Tender 1 from Batterson on Wednesday. All the burned acres were on private property.
