Fire Destroys Bass Lake Rental Home, Major Damage To Other Structures

BASS LAKE – An early-morning fire has destroyed a rental home and garage and damaged a third structure on the north shore of Bass Lake.

Just after 1:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to reports of a fire in a home in the 53700 block of Road 432.

The first unit at scene reported one structure fully involved and a detached garage about 75 percent involved.

According to Cal Fire, there were 11 people inside the home when neighbors saw the fire and began banging on the windows to wake up the occupants. Everyone was able to get out of the house safely and no injuries were reported.

Adjacent residents pulled out garden hoses and began wetting down their properties, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to surrounding homes and vegetation.

The two-story, approximately 2,000 sq. ft. home was completely destroyed along with a detached garage. An apartment on the property suffered significant damage.

PG&E was called out to deal with power lines down across the perimeter of the fire.

The fire was controlled at about 2:30 a.m., with an estimated three hours for mop-up and control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
