O’NEALS – Crews are at scene of several vegetation fires near the Rocky Cut on Highway 41, south of Road 200.

Southbound traffic is being diverted onto Road 200, and northbound is being allowed through but is reduced to one lane (see detour map below).

UPDATE: at 9:30 a.m., both directions were open with one-lane traffic control in place, and at 10:18 a.m. the roadway was reopened without restrictions.

The incident was reported just before 8:30 a.m. as three separate spot fires in the grass along the roadway. One had been nearly extinguished by a passerby with a fire extinguisher.

When the first engine arrived at scene, a second fire was reported at about one acre, burning in light, flashy fuels with a slow rate of spread.

At 9:44 a.m., another small fire – about 5 x 10 feet – was reported further south near the beginning of the 4-lanes.

We will update here as conditions develop.
