MIDPINES–A vegetation fire has been reported in Midpines, in Mariposa County, near Carstens Road and Highway 140. Ground crews and fire-fighting aircraft are responding. This is the Oak Fire. We will update this article as more information is available.
Original reports included that the fire in approximately 1/2 acre with creeping and smoldering behavior and a moderate rate of spread.

This will likely be our last update tonight unless something urgent happens.
The fire is currently 4350 acres. It is well established in many areas. All aircraft are off the fire for the night.

Boyer Road from Hwy 49S and all side roads
Darrah Road from the stop light to Triangle Road

The fire is now 611 acres.

Updated evacuations include
Triangle Rd from Hwy 140 to Butterfly Ridge Rd (near Silva Road and Triangle Road).
Triangle Rd (both sides of the road) from Hwy 140 to Carter Road, All of Carter Road.
The fire is now 150 acres and still spreading at a critical rate.

The Oak Fire is currently 50 to 75 acres and burning at a dangerous rate of spread. Mariposa County Sheriff’s Officers are in the area conducting evacuations. Several structures are threatened at this time. This fire will be an extended incident with a potential for 1000 acres.
