Felony Arrest in Coarsegold

COARSEGOLDThe Madera County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is reporting that on Monday, May 8th, 2023, at approximately 10:30 pm, the MCSO Communications Center received an emergency call for service at a home on Big River Way in Coarsegold.

When Deputies arrived on the scene, they located both the suspect and victim inside the residence. The reporting party, an adult male, was bleeding from the head and chest as a result of multiple stab wounds. The suspect, identified as Carlos Maciel Alejandre, had a bullet wound in his right shoulder. Both parties were transported to local medical facilities for treatment.

Following interviews of the involved parties, MCSO Detectives’ preliminary investigation revealed Alejendre had broken into the residence where his former girlfriend was staying and assaulted the adult male victim with a knife. The victim was then able to retrieve a handgun and shoot the assailant one time.

The original assailant, the man who was shot, was treated, released, and booked into Madera County Jail for felony charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

MCSO would like to reassure residents this was an isolated incident between known parties and there is no ongoing danger to the public. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact MCSO Detectives at (559) 675-7770).
