Felony Arrest For Willful Discharge Of A Firearm in Wishon

BASS LAKE – A man was arrested on felony charges after allegedly shooting at someone in the Wishon neighborhood near Bass Lake over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 4, at approximately 10:18 a.m., the Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service in the 36000 block of Road 222.

Corporal Williams, along with Deputies Fullhart and Schafer responded to reports of a male subject who fired a shot at another subject. The incident was described as a dispute between neighbors, though the man who allegedly fired the shot was visiting from out of town.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that no parties had been injured.

After obtaining witness statements, a search of the area was conducted. During the course of the investigation, Deputy Schafer located an expended shell casing in the area where witnesses reported observing the subject fire his weapon.

A black 9mm semi-automatic Glock handgun, registered to the suspect, was later recovered from the residence where he was staying, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The subject, identified as Leonel Valle, 32, of Westminster, Calif., was taken into custody.

Valle was transported and booked in at Madera County Department of Corrections without incident on felony charges of willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.

Valle’s bond was set at $50,000 and he bailed out of jail the same day.
