Fatal Stabbing Victim Identified As Oakhurst Resident

OAKHURST — The man who was fatally stabbed near a business on Winding Way this afternoon has been identified as a resident of the Oakhurst area in his mid-40s.

Just before 3 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a fight taking place between bikers on Winding Way below Supernaw’s BBQ.

The altercation was reportedly a fight between what was described as “rival motorcycle gangs” that resulted in one man being stabbed. CPR was performed on the victim, but they were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.

Deputies requested that more deputies respond to the scene, including those patrolling at Bass Lake. Officers from California Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Forest Service also responded along with CHP.

Investigators are still on site interviewing about ten people and expect to be there well into the evening. Their efforts are being hampered by the fact that those involved in the melee are being “uncooperative” with law enforcement, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are stationed at the entrance to Winding Way which is closed to the public.

“It is very unusual for something like this to happen in the mountain area,” says Madera County Sheriff’s Commander Bill Ward. “If anyone knows anything about this incident they are urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770 or Valley Crime Stoppers.”
