Fatal Crash In A Driveway In Yosemite Lakes Park

COARSEGOLD – A Coarsegold man is dead after an accident in his driveway yesterday afternoon in Yosemite Lakes Park.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, first responders were called out to reports of a vehicle into a tree off Yosemite Springs Parkway near Road 400.

Philip Girmant, 83, had left home in a 2010 Toyota to drive down and pick up the mail but did not return. For unknown reasons, the Toyota had left the driveway and traveled down a steep embankment where it struck a tree.

An off-duty law enforcement officer reportedly saw the crashed vehicle and stopped to render aid to the driver, performing CPR while waiting for Fire and EMS to arrive.

Due to the severity of the impact, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is unknown at this time if the driver suffered any type of medical issue that may have contributed to the accident, or if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

The accident is under investigation.
