COARSEGOLD – Emergency personnel and investigators responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Highway 41 just south of Road 416, near the bottom of the passing lane, just after 1 p.m. this afternoon.
A 2011 Kenworth commercial vehicle was southbound on Highway 41 when, for unknown reasons, the truck left the roadway on the west side of the highway and plunged off the steep embankment, rolling over several times and coming to rest on the driver’s side in a field about 200 feet from a residence.
The vehicle was demolished and the 40-year-old driver was ejected, causing fatal injuries, according to CHP.
The identity of the driver, who was a resident of Fresno, is not being released at this time, pending notification of the family.
The accident remains under investigation.
