COARSEGOLD – A single-vehicle accident on Road 415 has claimed the life of an elderly Coarsegold man.
At 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, the driver was westbound on Road 415 in a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick, in the winding corners approaching Road 416.
For unknown reasons, the driver suddenly steered to the left, crossed over the eastbound lane, left the roadway and overturned about 25 feet down the steep embankment.
Multiple witnesses who were traveling eastbound observed the crash, and stopped to render aid. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene within minutes, but the driver had suffered fatal injuries in the crash, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt.
No other vehicles were involved, and there were no passengers in the Suzuki.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is handling the Coroner’s Report, and CHP Officer Cosentino is investigating the accident. That investigation is ongoing.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
