OAKHURST – A family is mourning the loss of a loved one today, as they confirmed the death of longtime Oakhurst resident Lee Vick, 44, whose body was recovered from the Fresno River on Monday, June 30.
Sheriffs deputies responding to a call just north of the bridge on Road 426 report that no foul play is suspected in Vick’s untimely death, and his family says the memorial service will be private.
“It is with great sadness we say that Lee passed away on June 30,” wrote his sister, Brandy Grotewold-Alvey, adding that Vick lived in Oakhurst for over 20 years.
A father, brother and son, Lee Vick was born on October 15, 1969.
“At one time he was the successful business owner of Lee’s Landscaping, where he managed several residential and business properties in town,” said his sibling. “He was friendly, funny and outgoing. Lee was known for his kind and loving heart.“
Lee is survived by his mother Susann Costa, his step-father Chris Costa, his sister Brandy, his son Jesse Vick, Jesse’s sister Katie Vick, his step-brother Lucas Costa and his niece and nephew Ronee and Zackery Alvey.
According to the family, “Lee had many friends in the area which he cared deeply for.”
Local friends of Vick’s have posted their condolences on social media, including the statement that “he would have done anything for anyone of his friends or family.”
Vick’s sister, Brandy, lives in Clovis, while his mother and stepfather are residents of Mariposa. Vick’s son Jesse is a student at University of California, Merced.
