Written by Lisa Clark –

NORTH FORK – Low drum roll in the distance — Friends, we have contacted the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and they have embraced this special Fall Festival day planned for Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the former Putney Ranch Camp located off Road 274 in North Fork.

They are all unbelievably brave and an amazing part of our community. Got to say it again, they are heroes – Superman & Wonder Woman heroes!

In the works is a jammed packed family and friends Funday/Sunday full of dancing to Executive Rockers, finger licking BBQ, a bake-off contest with a nice cash prize, lots of FREE activities for the kiddies, a “Pamper Me Cabin” for massage renewal or a quick mini manicure, a bounce house for the kids, a Country Store with just the right needs for the home, craft vendors for easy holiday shopping, beer, wine & good cheer, and amazing Brick Oven Fired Pizza.

Putney Ranch is nestled up against local treasure Manzanita Lake, and we have a paddle boat and canoes ready for kids of all ages to take on the water course around “Rock Island.”

**Editor’s note: As a member of the North Fork Fire Department Auxiliary, I want to say that this day will be dedicated to the service and the memory of Frank Verduzco, a 43-year veteran of the Madera County Fire Department, Station 11, in North Fork. Frank served this community all his life, mentoring young firefighters, serving as Station Captain as called upon, and responding to emergencies as a Paid Call Firefighter. Let this day be a celebration of his life and his service.**
