The Yosemite Unified School District has changed its interdistrict transfer process.  Starting now, parents can request admission to Yosemite Unified schools for their students without first having to get approval from their home district.  This new process comes with new deadlines; applications must be received by January 1, 2020.  Applications and instructions are available at https://www.yosemiteusd.com/District/5679Untitled.html.  Also available on-line are the rules for bus transportation, which may be provided if enough students from an area apply and are accepted.   Yosemite Unified Schools have a great deal to offer, for example Yosemite High School (YHS) offers a full International Baccalaureate (IB) program https://www.yosemiteusd.com/yosemite/Department/43-IB-AP , an Advanced Placement program, dual enrollment opportunities with the State Center Community College District, an engaging Theater Arts program, an exemplary Music program, an award winning Visual Arts program, as well as successful Career Technical Programs, including; Auto Mechanics, Agriculture Mechanics, Agriculture Science, Floral Design, Culinary and Sports Medicine.  Yosemite High School has been very successful in academic competitions; including Mock Trial (county winner 1985-2019!), Academic Decathlon (county champion for 22 of the past 23 years!) and Destination Imagination (state level competitor). YHS also offers a full range of competitive athletic programs, including aquatics and a Cadet Corp program.  If you are looking for a small high school experience with BIG school opportunities, Yosemite High School is a fantastic option.  Our student body is close-knit, with students supporting each other in their diverse interests.  Teachers know their students and work to be models and mentors to them.  Our campus encompasses 100 acres of beautiful mountain terrain which is supervised by administration, 4 campus supervisors and a School Resource officer.  Yosemite High School is a place where students can grow as athletes and scholars.   Yosemite Unified School District has two Elementary schools.  Rivergold Elementary School, serving the area around Yosemite Lakes Park, is an award-winning school; it is known for stellar student performances and an intensive amount of parent involvement; and Coarsegold Elementary School, serving the Coarsegold area, boasts small class sizes and a Chukchansi language revitalization program.  Both schools serve students in grades K-8 and provide a close-knit family atmosphere.  Our elementary schools offer a range of middle school electives that include leadership and community service, as well a music program.  Each site has a full range of athletic teams, as well as participation in Mountain Area Ski School.  More information is available about all of our schools on each site’s Facebook page and/or on each site’s school website.
