The Valley Center for the Blind hosts the White Cane Safety Day Walk on October 15, White Cane Safety Day, at Inspiration Park starting at 10 AM. We are excited to host this walk again to gather the Central Valley blind and low vision community and to raise awareness, advocate, and educate the community. We hope you can join us and/or help spread the word.

The White Cane Day Walk hosted by The Valley Center for the Blind returns Saturday, October 15 from 10am to 3pm at Inspiration Park in Fresno to celebrate the white cane, a symbol of independence for the blind and visually impaired community.

This event is also an opportunity for those experiencing blindness and vision loss to meet others in the blind and visually impaired community. President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed October 15, 1964 White Cane Safety Day to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and independence. President Barack Obama also named this day, Blind Americans Equality Day in 2011.

The Valley Center for the Blind celebrates White Cane Safety Day every year to raise awareness, advocate, and educate the community.

The group will meet at 10am at the Inspiration Park parking lot and the walk will start at 10:30am. Attendees will walk to the corner of Gettysburg and Hayes and will walk back to the park until 11am. There, attendees can enjoy lunch and games.

For transportation questions and more information, attendees can contact the Valley Center for the Blind at (559)222-4447 or by emailing info@myvcb.org.
