The May 4 meeting of the Oakhurst Democratic Club will feature a presentation by the Citizen’s Climate Lobby, a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.

Anne Russell is a North Fork local, a fellow earth-lover who has worked as a biologist for both the Sierra National Forest and Yosemite National Park. Matt Armstrong is a San Joaquin Valley native concerned about the impacts of climate change on his home region. He is an archaeologist and works in environmental compliance, focused on historic preservation.

Armstrong and Russell will present on Citizen’s Climate Lobby’s support of Carbon Fee and Dividend system, and their details on HR 763, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. This bipartisan, revenue-neutral bill would reduce carbon emissions by 40% in the next 12 years, and create 2.1 million new jobs in the USA, helping low- and middle-income households. Come find out how your support can help decrease greenhouse gas emissions and promote a healthy economy

The meeting is held at the Oakhurst Grill, 40530 Highway 41. A buffet breakfast is available for $8.00, starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program at 9:15 a.m.. As always, the public is invited. For more information, e-mail info@yosemitedems.com.
