Yosemite New Life Church in Oakhurst will be showing the movie, “Tortured for Christ,” the story of Romanian Pastor Richard Wurmbrand who suffered 14 years of imprisonment and brutal torture after Russian Communists invaded his country. Wurmbrand’s wife, Sabrina, was treated as a slave in a labor camp for a time during her husband’s incarceration. The couple’s only “crimes” were their faith and witness for Jesus Christ. Through it all, they loved their enemies and sought to win their torturers for Christ.
The church is located at 40390 Junction Dr., Oakhurst.

In l967, Wurmbrand started Voice of the Martyrs, an inter-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. He died in 2001 at the age of 91.
The movie is free and popcorn and a beverage will be provided. Movie-goers are welcome to bring snacks or food to share if they choose.
The film is being shown in recognition of the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians that will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023. The movie is a production of Voice of the Martyrs.
