Missions Couple Serving Overseas to Speak at Yosemite New Life
A Nazarene couple serving in Christian missions overseas will share the work they do for the Nazarene Church at Yosemite New Life Church in Oakhurst at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The church is located at 40390 Junction Drive.
While in California, Esteban and Sugey Alcantara will be visiting Nazarene churches in the Central Valley, including Yosemite New Life. Their purpose is to raise both the spiritual and financial support necessary to serve on a mission field. In missionary field work, this is called a “deputation.” This process is designed to create a long-term connection between the missionary and local congregations, helping them to become “fellow-helpers” in the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to deliver the gospel to all nations. The Alcantara’s currently serve as Missions Mobilization Coordinators for the Eurasia Region. In 2023, they moved to England to serve in Eurasia, one of the most culturally and spiritually diverse regions in the world. According to the Alcantara’s, the church in the Eurasia region is small and access to the gospel remains limited. However, convinced that God continues to call His people, the couple said they “walk alongside the church to inspire obedience and active participation in the global mission. “ Through Missions Mobilization, the couple connects local churches with strategic service opportunities and intentionally works to discover, develop, and deploy new Nazarene missionaries to respond to real needs in the field. Their calling is not only to go, but to help others discover their place in God’s mission and say “yes” to what He is already doing in Eurasia whether abroad or at home.
Esteban Alcantara is originally from the Dominican Republic and his wife, Sugey, is from Mexico. Together, with their two-year-old son, Gael, they serve as a missionary family. During their deputation period, missionaries typically present their ministry through personal testimonies, video presentations, and preaching to help congregations understand the specific spiritual and physical needs of the field they are called to serve.
Yosemite New Life Church Pastor Derek Chase not only welcomes church congregants but others in the community to attend the Alcantara’s presentation. A love offering for the family will be taken that evening. For more information, call the church at (559) 683-3950.
