This event is a FREE family friendly event!
Our Trails Day is part of a national celebration of non-motorized trails. We have much to celebrate in this regard in Mariposa, and this June is a good time to do it. Outdoors, of course! And most fitting! This event showcases the Mariposa Creek Parkway and the Stockton Creek Preserve. This should be a fun and informative day!

Our morning venue is the County Art Park and will provide a wide range of county and civic organizations, plus some private individuals, interested in our trails. They will offer their trail perspectives ranging over public health, new trail projects, conservation, poetry, cycling, trail maintenance projects, rafting, painting, equestrian use, song, and much more. The day begins at nine am with time to visit the 20 tables at the Art Park. At 10:15 we shall begin the stage program with brief presentations by various groups on their connections with and visions for trails. These shall intersperse with poetry and song relevant to trails. Snacks are available in the Art Park. A food truck will be in sight.

In the afternoon between one and four we shall have an array of activities in the Preserve or along the Parkway including: fly fishing demo, birding, native plant walk, a walk on the proposed Parkway extension, cycling in Preserve, Plein Air painting in both Parkway and Preserve, and brainstorming about trail possibilities of the future. To sign up for these activities, the best thing will be to go to that group’s table the morning of June 4 or contact them by email. (We shall post the details of the activities in May.)

The evening of June 4 marks the beginning of the Mariposa County Arts Council’s Music on the Green series. That too is in the Art Park. The Trespassers will be performing with trails on their minds.
