The Madera NAACP Local Branch 1084 is hosting an event entitled, “Educate-Vaccinate- Playdate,” this Sunday, April 3, 2022, at McNally Park in Madera. The event will feature a taco truck with free food, games, prizes, and free COVID-19 vaccinations offered by the Madera County Department of Public Health.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, April 3, 2022
  • Time: 1-4pm
  • Location: McNally Park: 825 South A. St. Madera, Ca 93638

Patricia Alexander, FNP and Health Chair of Madera NAACP Branch 1084 believes this event is an important endeavor. “We need to educate and vaccinate children ages 5-11 years and their families. Come out and receive education and  get vaccinated in a family fun atmosphere.”

Vaccinations rates remain low among African Americans in Madera County.  Only 32.9% of eligible African Americans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, compared to 63.31% of the overall eligible population in Madera County.

The Madera NAACP recently coordinated a Melanated and Vaccinated virtual discussion during Black History Month featuring local experts from and community members debunking common myths. This event is hoping to build on that success and provide further education to the community.

For questions regarding the event, contact the Health Chair (558) 598-6265 or email 1084maderanaacp@gmail.com .
