Evacuations Ordered For Hunters Valley Fire

HUNTERS VALLEY – A 500 acre fire is burning in the Hunters Valley area of Mariposa County near Lake McClure just west of Highway 49.

Mandatory evacuation orders are now in place for all of Hunters Valley Road to Bear Valley Road, including Hunter’s Valley access road and Detwiler Road.

There are currently no evacuations for Cotton Creek Road.

Current road closures: Hunters Valley Road at Bear Valley Road and Cotton Creek Road at Bear Valley Road.

If you live in this area, you have been ordered to evacuate due to the danger in or expected around your area. Leave your residence. Please take any medications and/or medical equipment, identification, family and friends’ phone numbers and pets.

An evacuation center has been set up at McKay Hall in Catheys Valley at 2820 Highway 140.

The Mariposa County Fairgrounds animal shelter for animals and livestock has also been opened. If you require evacuation assistance for large animals and livestock, please call 209-966-3615.
