Eugene Larner Gilpin, loving husband, father, and grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away early Monday morning Jan. 22, 2018, following a short illness.
Gene was born and raised in Fresno County. He served in the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon and then returned to Fresno to begin private practice. For most of his career, Gene was a radiologist at John C. Fremont in Mariposa, Kaiser Permanente, and other valley hospitals.
Gene was a lifelong Porsche enthusiast and was actively involved in the Porsche Club of America for many years.
Gene is survived by his wife Cheryl, his six children; Kevin, Kerry, Brent, Stephanie, Kimberly, and Em; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Morgan, Gracie, Olivia, Gabriella, Liam, and Kira; two sisters, Maxine Gilpin of Newport News, Virginia, and Sandye GilpinBlack of North Fork, California; Uncle of Tess, Carlo, Brett and Jeff; and grand nieces and nephews. His parents had been residents of North Fork, and he was known to friends in North Fork and Oakhurst.
Donations in Gene’s name can be made to Hinds Hospice.
An open house to celebrate his life will be held at 1370 W. Robinwood Lane, Fresno, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 3 to 6 p.m.
