Elegant Auction Benefits Oakhurst Community Park

FISH CAMP – The Oakhurst Community Park Committee invites everyone to attend the 28th Annual Elegant Auction “Lucky 13” to benefit the Park, on Saturday, Mar. 23.

Committee Chair Susan Macaulay explains how the yearly fundraiser provides for equipment, maintenance, and upgrades to the Park, a “vital part of our community for all ages to enjoy, a place for families to unite, and a place for many community events.”The park is located in the unincorporated community of Oakhurst, making a fundraiser like the Elegant Auction essential for the Park’s survival.

“Without funding from any state or county sources, the Oakhurst Community Park was a vision that became a reality soley through the generous contributions of residents and businesses in our mountain area, and the equally generous support of out-of-area businesses,” Macaulay explains.

She offers special thanks to Flint Tompkins and his team of volunteers for taking on the park’s safety issues and helping to make the park an even more secure place for all to enjoy.

The “Lucky 13” themed night is expected to be full of fun and surprises.

“In the past, we have auctioned event tickets, vacations, gift baskets, cruises, wine tours, helicopter and plane trips, cars and even a horse,” teases the Chair of the all-volunteer committee.

“We will be having a DJ and dancing after the live auction, and a few poker tables where people can play. Hopefully this will entice them to stay the night and make a total evening of it.”

Tenaya Lodge is offering a discounted room rate for those attending the Elegant Auction.

“Rooms are only $99 and then, they don’t have to drive,” sais Macaulay. “With free champagne, I think that is a very good idea! The Tenaya’s Ascent Spa is also offering deals on spa packages for Saturday or Sunday.”

Very elegant, indeed!

The evening will feature a both silent and live auctions. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the live auction begins at 8 p.m.

Admission is $45 in advance and $50 at the door. Guests can look forward to complimentary champagne, an “exquisite” gourmet buffet and dessert bar, with music and dancing to follow.
