OAKHURST — This weekend marks the last chance to see Golden Chain Theatre’s second selection of their 2018 Season, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, adapted by Simon Levy.
The production is directed by the team of Lyric Gianni and Miranda Simonich, and closes on Sunday, May 20.
Tickets are available for performances on Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m., as the GCT brings a classic tale to life with the grandeur and opulence one would expect from the evening’s host, Jay Gatsby.
The story begins with midwest native Nick Carraway arriving in 1922 New York, searching for rest and purpose. Would-be writer Nick moves in next door to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, just across the bay from his cousin Daisy and her philandering husband, Tom Buchanan.
Suddenly, Nick is entangled in the captivating world of the wealth and entitlement, while narrating a tale of impossible love, golden illusion, and tragedy — embodying the breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age.
Doors open one hour prior to curtain.
