Earth Day In North Fork

NORTH FORK – Earth Day in North Fork will be Saturday, Apr. 20 at the old mill site, featuring lots of green technology and a line-up of local musicians.

Some of the on-site demonstrations will include composting and landscaping with native plants. Others will feature the use of power from the sun, from a solar charging station, to solar cooking and an electric car display.Vendors will be offering a variety of food, drink and merchandise, including the North Fork Women’s Club offering breakfast Burritos, famous home made desserts and more. All funds go for the women’s scholarships.

The festivities run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be emceed by Scott Marsh, owner of Slim’s Koffee Shak and president of the North Fork Chamber of Commerce.

Local musicians will entertain throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m.

11:00 – Ember State

12:00 – Mark Olson and Penny Critchlow

1:30 – Dave Cicoletti and Joe Nelson

There will also be dancing demonstrations, and everyone is invited to tour the new North Fork Fire Station #11, recently built on the Mill Site, and scheduled for dedication on May 11.

Recyclers will be on hand for those wishing to dispose of scrap metal, appliances and electronics.

All donations for booths at the fair will be used to fund a scholarship for a high school student interested in Natural Resources study.

    The North Fork Rancheria has a few things left from their equipment sale if you know of anyone that is looking for acoustical ceiling panels we have 84 panels for $70, window screens at $2.00 each, and R-11 ceiling insulation for $12.00 (5 rolls) unbatted.
