OAKHURST – A two vehicle accident on Road 426 today sent both drivers to the hospital, and resulted in one being arrested for DUI.
At 9:55 a.m. on Friday, July 19, Barbara Yates, 42, of Oakhurst, was westbound on Road 426 near Mountain View in a 2001 Porche. According to CHP, Yates allowed her vehicle to cross over the solid yellow lines on a curve and it sideswiped an eastbound 2008 Ford Escape driven by Lillion Dilley, 77, also of Oakhurst.
The force of the impact pushed the Ford Escape off the roadway where it rolled onto its side.
The Porche then continued across the opposing lane of traffic, colliding with a dirt embankment on the south side of the road.
Sierra Ambulance responded to the scene along with fire personnel, who implemented one-lane traffic control.
Dilley was transported to Clovis Community Hospital complaining of pain, and Yates was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence, and transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
