OAKHURST – A single vehicle accident on Road 426 near Golden Ball caused traffic to be routed through one lane at a time for over an hour, and resulted in an arrest.
Just before 7:30 p.m., Sandra Bateman of Oakhurst, was westbound on Road 426 at an unknown rate of speed in a Ford Focus.
For unknown reasons, she drifted off the right shoulder, striking a large boulder in the embankment. The vehicle flipped over and skidded across the road where it struck a stump on the left shoulder and came to rest on its roof just off the roadway.
Madera County Fire Engine 12 and Squad 12 responded to the scene, along with Sierra Ambulance. The driver was transported to St. Agnes with minor injuries, but was first placed under arrest for DUI, according to CHP.
