Drop Off Your Gift To Make Christmas Merry For A Local Senior

OAKHURST – During the holiday season, we may tend to focus on making Christmas merry for kids. However, our local California Highway Patrol reminds everyone of the seniors who may need some special attention.

The Oakhurst CHP invites you to “Be a Santa to a Senior” and make the holidays special for those who may not be on anyone’s Christmas list.

For the second year, our local CHP is organizing a special event where they will deliver gifts to “seasoned citizens” at two Oakhurst senior living facilities.

This year, the CHP is requesting gifts of:

  • Socks
  • Gloves
  • Scarves
  • Hats
  • Robes
  • Slippers
  • Blankets
  • Coloring Books
  • Colored pencils/pens
  • Puzzles
  • Puzzle books
  • Highlight pens
  • Lotion
  • Books

Please bring in new, unwrapped gifts to the Oakhurst CHP Office at 40500 Redbud Drive (which is actually on Highway 49); or CVS at 40044 Highway 49, or Starbucks at 40208 Highway 41.

The CHP offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., CVS is open daily from 7 a.m. to midnight, and Starbucks is open from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week.

All donations will be delivered on Dec. 18, to the residents at Oakhurst Board and Care and at Oakhurst Healthcare and Wellness Centre.

Organizers are also asking for gift bags, tissue paper, wrapping paper and boxes. No food, please!
