MADERA COUNTY – The driver who crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing her passenger and the driver of the other car, has been arrested, according to CHP.
Sasha Watson, 27, of Coarsegold, was westbound on Highway 145 in a Ford Fusion at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, when CHP says she passed over double-yellow lines and crashed head-on into a car driven by Karri Lynn Peterson, 51, of Oakhurst, killing her.
Heidi Vanzeyl, 53, of Coarsegold, was the right-front passenger in the Ford, and also died at the scene.
Watson suffered major injuries and was transported to a Valley hospital along with two juveniles, ages 14 and 16, who were in the back seat.
In a report released today, CHP says the investigation has determined that Watson may have been driving impaired. She has been placed under arrest.
