Driver Arrested After Hit & Run And Rollover

BASS LAKE – A hit-and-run on Highway 49 on Tuesday evening ended with a roll-over near Bass Lake and a DUI arrest, according to the CHP.

At 6:57 p.m. on July 9, CHP received a report of a silver 2002 Honda Accord being run off the road on Highway 49 near Marble Court. The suspect vehicle was later learned to be a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo driven by Michael Bowlan, 35, of North Fork.Bowlan left the scene of the incident, and officers were notified to be on the lookout for the Isuzu.

At about 7:35 p.m., while CHP was still investigating the hit-and-run, another report came in of a single vehicle crash on Road 274 at Marina View Drive on the north side of Bass Lake. The Isuzu reported to be involved in the earlier hit-and-run had wrecked on a long straightaway, rolled over and the driver had been ejected, sustaining severe injuries.

Bowlan was transported to North Fork School and was taken by air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

He was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence and Hit and Run.
