Driver Airlifted After Motorcycle Crash Near Sugar Pine

FISH CAMP — A motorcyclist was airlifted after crashing into the back of a car on Highway 41 near Sugar Pine on Sunday.

John Miller, 52, of Fish Camp, was southbound on a 2007 Yamaha R6, just north of Road 630 at 3:49 p.m. Though his speed is unknown, he was reportedly passing vehicles over the double yellow lines.

Jessa Solon, 32, of Oakhurst, was also southbound in 1998 Subaru Outback, several vehicles ahead of the motorcycle, and was slowing to a stop before making a left turn onto Road 630.

Miller had just passed another vehicle and moved back into the southbound lane, according to CHP, only to encounter Solon’s Subaru stopped in the road, waiting to turn.

Due to his rate of speed, Miller was unable to avoid colliding with the Subaru, and was ejected from his motorcycle due to the force of the crash.

He suffered major injuries and was transported by Sierra Ambulance to a landing zone at Vons in Oakhurst, and flown by SkyLife air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center. Solon was not injured.
