CHP Officer Kaci Lutz reminds everyone to limit the distractions and keep focus on operating your vehicle.

“For our young drivers, reckless and distracted driving is the number one killer of teens in America,” says Officer Lutz. “Focus on the road ahead and get to where you are going safely.”

“A safe rule of thumb is to slow down to 25 mph during school hours when children are present… period! Lets join together to support and enforce the safety of our children, parents and teachers as school is back into session.”

For further information and instruction on teen drivers safety, look for our “Start Smart” drivers class on September 15 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Oakhurst CHP Area Office. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.
