Discover Yosemite's Forgotten Trails With Tony Krizan

OAKHURST – Starting on Saturday, April 18, Tony Krizan local adventurer, author and photographer will share his 30-plus years of hiking experience and photos with an exciting live presentation series.

The six-event series will feature wilderness hiking trails within the mountains surrounding Yosemite.

Experience each free, 30-minute show as Tony brings to life his nine day, 47-mile loop, starting at the Mammoth Trailhead, just above Clover Meadow, at 7,495 feet.

The first presentation will highlight Tony’s “Minaret Mountain Adventure” on the east side, around Minaret Lake and into the Minaret Mine, established in 1878, which resides at a breathtaking 9,810 feet. He will continue back through the Minarets skirting around the two tallest peaks – Mt. Ritter at 13,143 feet and Mt. Banner at 12,942 feet. The course will then drop in elevation from Lake Catherine to the Iceberg Pass Trailhead following the North Fork of the San Joaquin River.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary variety of hors d’oeuvres during each presentation provided by Crab Cakes Restaurant in Oakhurst. In conjunction with presentations, REI of Fresno will display various kinds of extreme hiking equipment, the same type of equipment Tony would use on one of his many adventures.

The series will run monthly from April through September, in the lobby of the Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites located on Highway 41 in Oakhurst, from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the dates listed below. All presentations are open to the public and free of charge.

This is one of the many local events scheduled to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Yosemite National Park. On October 1, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed the legislation, thereby creating the nation’s third National Park. The establishment of Yosemite National Park preserved over 1,500 square miles of land including Tuolumne Meadows, the park’s high country, Hetch Hetchy and lands surrounding Yosemite Valley.
