MADERA COUNTY – It is with great sadness that Sheriff Varney announces the passing of the Sheriff’s Office’s longest serving employee.
Diana Rankin passed away at her home last Tuesday. She had been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since February of 1975 and had worked in a variety of capacities including a Jail Matron, Dispatcher, and for the last 15 years serving the mountain community as a Sheriff’s Records Clerk.
“Diana’s calm demeanor, sharp mind, and institutional knowledge of CLETS and the Sheriff’s Office in general, will be missed,” said Sheriff Varney.
There will be a celebration of Diana’s life at the Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park, 49777 High School Road in Oakhurst, on Saturday, Sept.26, from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be a potluck meal and an opportunity for people to speak about their memories of Diana.
