Deputy Captures Suspected Car Thief Who Crashed Into 22-Mile House

MADERA COUNTY – Sheriff John Anderson announced the arrest of a Madera man wanted in connection with a vehicle theft case – the same vehicle caught on tape ramming into the front of the 22-Mile House earlier this month.

Deputy Luis Padgett captured Abel Andrew Ramos, 23, who was armed with a loaded gun when the deputy took him into custody.On Mar. 8, surveillance video captured a stolen Chrysler Pacifica slamming into the entrance of the 22-Mile House shortly before 4 a.m.

Twenty-four hours later, deputies caught up with that stolen vehicle near Cleveland Avenue and Tulare Street. The man behind the wheel at that time, who was identified as Ramos, managed to escape, leaving behind his three occupants who were all arrested.-

Abel Ramos, who is wanted on three felony probation warrants, remains jailed without bail after his apprehension.

The investigation is still ongoing.
