OAKHURST — A pot bust in the Oakhurst area netted thousands of marijuana plants and resulted in one arrest and the discovery of dangerous wiring conditions and black mold.
On Monday, Apr. 25, Madera County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed two search warrants in the 48000 block of Road 620 in Oakhurst. Deputies located two residences on the property that were fully converted for indoor marijuana cultivation.
During the bust, deputies seized 2,396 budding marijuana plants, one firearm, and over $900 in cash from the residences.
They also arrested 56-year-old Wei Jian Xu of Oakland for cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale. County Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement Officers found the residences uninhabitable and posted notices to that effect due to faulty wiring and illegal building conditions.
Deputies located black mold in the residence, which is extremely harmful to humans. They also found a large amount of waste from the indoor cultivation operation disposed of near a natural creek on the property.
