MADERA COUNTY – A man wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for allegedly trying to lure young girls via internet and cell phone has been captured.

Brandon Johns, 29, was arrested on Sunday, Apr. 12, at a hotel in Madera. He was wanted for numerous felony charges in regard to contacting teenage girls online and by cell phone, trying to engage them in sexually oriented conversations, and soliciting them to send him sexually explicit photos.

Additional information and several helpful tips were generated as a result of the media exposure in this case.

“This case is now resolved thanks to information from the public and many hours of hard work from our deputies,” said Sheriff Varney. “There are a lot of offenders out there who will prey on children and teenagers. Parents and law enforcement need to be aware of this behavior and be ready to act quickly when something suspicious occurs.”

Sheriff Varney commended the potential victims who came forward with information and also praised his deputies and detectives who worked on this case and ultimately located and arrested Johns.
